The Winstedt School embraces technology not only as an educational tool, but also as a fundamental skill for personal and professional success.
- Reception through Year 3 students leverage iPads as early introduction to navigating and utilising technology via the use of tailored academic and creative applications.
- Year 4 and above utilise laptops throughout the day learning the Microsoft Office suite, tailored academic and creative applications, keyboarding, digital safety awareness as well as technical skills in coding.
- Each classroom is equipped with a SMART Board to deploy interactive lessons and expose students to technology.
Assistive Technology is part of every classroom, providing faculty with exceptional tools that help address the different learning styles within the school allowing students to make academic strides. However, we do not see it as a substitute for good teaching.
Assistive Technology is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities for those with learning differences.
Winstedt Online Community
At Winstedt, students have access to online classroom activities with the ability to complete and submit assignments, take quizzes, and communicate with their teachers. Our parent community is key to our success, and are also part of this online community between the students and teachers in addition to having access to their own community of Winstedt parents.
The Library@TWS is open to all students, faculty and parents throughout the school year. Students have weekly class visits with access to a vast collection of books and resources. Younger students participate in fun and engaging story telling sessions whilst older students share what they have read or are currently reading with their peers. We know our students interests and every student can expect title recommendations from the school’s Librarian.
The school’s library portal Destiny Quest, lists all the books available for loan. This can be accessed on the school website.
Online books via Tumble Books Library is an additional resource. It features a wide array of picture books, graphic novels, related games and activities and read along options. This collection can be accessed through multiple devices easily.
